Former National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralph Nwosu, has declared that the party will publicly confront the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its recent decision affecting the party’s leadership structure.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Thursday, April 2, 2026, Nwosu described INEC’s action as “unjustifiable and misleading,” accusing the electoral body of misrepresenting facts surrounding the ADC’s internal leadership arrangement.
He revealed that the party has already begun compiling documentation and mobilising public engagement strategies to counter INEC’s position. According to him, the ADC will, within days, release detailed evidence to prove that due process was followed in constituting its leadership.
“Within the next two days, we are going to show the world exactly how ridiculous what INEC is doing truly is, because we have all the documents,” Nwosu stated confidently.
The former chairman further disclosed that the party possesses certified records, including documents he claims were previously validated by INEC itself, which he believes will expose inconsistencies in the commission’s recent actions.
The dispute comes amid rising tensions within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following INEC’s decision to alter its recognition of certain party officials and suspend acknowledgment of some internal processes pending the resolution of ongoing legal matters.
Political analysts say the development has triggered renewed legal and political uncertainty, particularly as Nigeria gradually builds momentum toward the 2027 general elections. The unfolding crisis is also seen as a test case for the balance between internal party democracy and regulatory oversight by electoral authorities.
Nwosu maintained that the ADC remains resolute and prepared to defend what it describes as a legitimate leadership structure, stressing that the party’s forthcoming disclosure will not only clarify its position but also hold the electoral body accountable in the court of public opinion.
Observers believe the coming days will be critical, as both the ADC and INEC are expected to present their positions, potentially setting the stage for a broader legal confrontation with significant implications for Nigeria’s political landscape.
