Adamawa Governorship Election: Again Gov Fintiri Floors Binani in Appeal Court
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has dismissed the petition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani against the re-lection of Governor Umar Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State who is the candidate of the peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The APC approached the appellate court seeking nullification of Fintiri’s election on the bases that it did not substantially comply to the provisions of the 2022 electoral Act.
However, in its ruling, the Court held that Governor Umar Fintiri was lawfully declared as affirmed by the Adamawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
The Chairman of the three-man panel, Justice Tunde Oyebanji Awotoye while reading the judgement said that the APC and its candidate were unable to prove their allegations saying that the three witnesses that testified had no ground to testify as they were not party agents, but campaign directors for the APC.
