Abuja Court Stops CBN, Act- General of the Federation from Releasing Rivers Allocation

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), not to release the monthly allocation of Rivers State Government.

Issuing the order, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ruled that the receipt and disbursement of monthly allocations since January 2024 to date by Governor Siminalayi Fubara  was unconstitutional and aberration that must not be allowed to continue.

The judge predicated her ruling on the presentation of Rivers State 2024 budget to a 4-member Rivers State House of Assembly was an affront on the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999 as amended).

The judge subsequently restrained the CBN, the Accountant General of the Federation, Zenith Bank and Access Bank from further allowing Governor  Fubara to access money from the Consolidated Revenue and Federation Account.
