Abuja based church, The Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) on January 1, 2025 feted thousands of poor and vulnerable Abuja residents.
The church its COZA Cares Foundation, organised the distribution of food items and other relief materials to thousands of Nigerians who lined up at the Guzape Headquarters of the church to receive the items.
FACTSHEET Correspondent who spoke to some of the beneficiaries who cut at across various ethnic and religious backgrounds was told that it was not the first time the church was embarking on such outreach to the poor and vulnerable.
A member of the church who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on behalf of the church stated that, “we are concerned over the situation faced by these people, also as Nigerians and ambassadors of Jesus Christ, the church sees this as part of its mandate. Our Lord Jesus Christ said that if we do this to the people who need it, we have equally done it for him.”
FACTSHEET noticed that despite the fact that hundreds of people lined up from the entrance of the Guzape district by the New H-Medix outlet, the event was orderly and organised.
There was considerable presence of security officials that included the operatives of the DSS, Nigeria Police and members of the Nigeria Peace Corps who worked with members of the church’s internal security to ensure a hitch-free event.
Beneficiaries came from Kpaduma district, Nyanya, Mararaba and other adjoining satellite towns.
COZA is led by Reverend Biodun and Pastor Modele Fatoyinbo.
