Marketers of petroleum products in Nigeria under the umbrella of “Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN), has announced that the Port Harcourt refinery will sell petrol at N1,030 per litre,
The association’s position is coming on the heels of uncertainty surrounding “functionality” of the refinery.
Many Nigerians both at home and abroad have expressed doubt on the announcement that one of Nigeria’s oldest refinery which has been moribund for more than two decades has finally come on stream.
The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) announced earlier in the week that the refinery has fully come on stream and will by the end of November 2024 begin the supply of fuel to marketers across Nigeria.
Affirming the position of the NNPCL, PETROAN through a statement credited to its spokesman, Joseph Obele affirmed on Thursday evening that the NNPCL has informed the association of its readiness to sell petrol to its members at N1,030 per litre.
Obele said, “NNPC Retail Ltd has officially announced the PMS price at the Port Harcourt refinery as N1,030 per litre
“It was also communicated to PETROAN that the product request portal was open for booking/request.”
He affirmed further that members of PETROAN were “open to patronizing all the refineries in Nigeria,” in an apparent reference to the Dangote Refinery, Lagos.
