The new minister of Education, Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa has announced the reversal of the 18 years mark for entry into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
With the reversal, 16 years is now the minimum age for entry into Nigerian universities.
Former minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman had promulgated a new age limit of minimum of 18years for Nigerians seeking university education.
However, addressing journalists on his resumption as the helmsman, Dr. Alausa said that the 18-year cap was not sustainable and was capable of creating more out-of-school children in Nigeria.
The new minister also revealed that the government would pursue a policy of education system that will emphasize 80 percent practical and 20 percent classroom/theoretical.
