The Federal Government has announced that it has commenced payment of outstanding salaries of members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Federal Universities (NASU) as well as the and benefits to retirees under the Nigerian Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme.
The position of the government was confirmed through a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by the Director, Press and Public Relations in the office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF).
The statement signed by Bawa Mokwa, reads in part, “The Federal Government has released funds for payment of withheld salary of Non-Academic Staff Union of Federal Universities,” the statement read.
“According to the OAGF, the Federal Government has also released funds for payment of benefits to retirees under the Nigerian Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme Sector.”
According the statement, members of NASU across Nigerian universities are already confirming the receipt of the money.
