REVEALED: NNPCL Budgets 12m dollars for Reps Leadership, Lawmakers to Abort Investigation of Rot in Oil Sector

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has allegedly budgeted a whooping sum $12 million  to offer to leadership of the House of Representatives and lawmakers to abort the forensic probe of rot into the oil sector and the company, investigation has revealed.

The investigation also showed that the Mele Kyari- led NNPCL Management is also exploring another alternative which is to have the job taken away from the Joint Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) and (Midstream) chaired by Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere  and Henry Hon. Okogie for their uncompromising stance and preferred an ad-hoc Committee with different persons to handle the assignment to cover the rot which is the main reason resources needed to help Tinubu succeed have been frittered away by NNPCL.

Impeccable sources in the country’s national oil company who pleaded anonymity disclosed that since the House of Representatives on July 9, 2024, resolved to conduct a legislative forensic investigation into the downstream sector vis-a-vis NNPCL, the top Management has been rattled and running from pillar to post to cover their dirty deals from been exposed.

The sources noted the Kyari’ management of NNPCL was more worried by lack of cooperation from the joint committee led by Ugochinyere and Okojie who are resisting mouthwatering temptations to give the company’s top echelons soft landing hence the desperate attempts.

According to the successes, the plan of the NNPCL appeared to have started yielding fruits with the emergency group of lawmakers numbering 120 under the banner of ‘1 AGENDA’ which has so far collected $5 million to defend him via an advertorial placed in leading National newspapers at the weekend.

“We can categorically confirmed but don’t mention our names, that the NNPCL under the leadership of Mallam Mele Kyari has budgeted as much as $12 million to bribe the leadership of the House of Representatives and lawmakers to either abort the forensic investigation or almost change the joint committee on downstream and midstream chaired by Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere and Hon. Henry Okojie respectively.

“The NNPCL which is already in talks with very powerful elements  in the 10th House is opting in worst case scenario for an ad-hoc committee be set consisting of lawmakers who are favourably disposed to give the management of Kyari a soft landing.

“As it is NNPCL top brass is ready to sponsor lawmakers to cut short their recess and come back with the sole aim of rescinding their resolution on the motion moved in respect of the probe and to set an ad-hoc committee preferably dominated by elements that will ensure nnpcl wrong doings are covered with names of 3 members of leadership been dropped and 4 leading chairmen of an already existing committee so that nnpcl would be spared and the allegations against the company watered down.

Also speaking on the condition of anonymity, some furious concerned Nigerians and the leadership of energy sector Reform Initiative led by Barr. Lawal Abu warned the leadership of the House and lawmakers generally not to fall prey to the charade planned by Kyari and his cohorts as doing so they will incur the wrath of already disenchanted people.

“We are already aware of the moves of the NNPCL Management led by Mele Kyari attempt to use their loot or take from the company’s purse the some of $12 million and bribed the leadership and entire House of Representatives to either rescind their decision to conduct a forensic audit of the company or at least take the job away from the standing joint committee and set up an ad-hoc committee populated by their colonies so that they will escape.

“The leadership of the House and members should in their own interest resist the temptation to discontinue the probe or tinker with the probe team or else they will incur the wrath of already angry Nigerians who are already on the streets to protest against HUNGER!”, the sources added.
