FCT Lawmaker, Ireti Kingibe Dissociates Self From ‘Fake Video’ on Protest

Senator Ireti Kingibe,  the lawmaker representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the Senate has dissociated herself from a video circulating online purporting that she was leading protesters in the FCT.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday by her media adviser, Kennedy Mbele, the lawmaker stated that the circulating video was six weeks old and has nothing to with the ongoing #EndBadGovernance.

She clarified the video was when she joined Mr. Peter broker peace between the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Labour Party in Abuja.

The lawmaker said that the manipulated video was the handiwork of mischief makers.

The statement reads:

“The video being circulated is over six weeks old, taken during a Labour Party NWC meeting while the NLC was protesting outside the Labour Party office.

“As stakeholders, including Senators, House of Representatives members, and Mr. Peter Obi, we went out to engage with the protesters and address their concerns.

“Now, these deceitful individuals are attempting to present this old footage as current, falsely claiming that Mr. Peter Obi and I led protests in Abuja yesterday.”

The Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike has been locked in mind games and war of words with the lawmaker since the inception of 10th National Assembly. Wike had on Thursday said that a certain lawmaker was financing the protests in the FCT.
