Senator Barau’s Foundation Opens Applications for Postgraduate Foreign Scholarships in AI, Forensic, Robotics Sciences

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, through his foundation, the Barau I Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), has opened applications for postgraduate foreign scholarships in Artificial Intelligence, Forensic and Robotics Sciences.

Established to provide humanitarian, educational and empowerment across the country, the Secretary of the Scholarship Committee of the BIJF, Dr. Maikudi Lawan, said the three fields are selected to provide specialised skills to the citizens.

He said the scholarship program was conceived to promote academic excellence and support deserving individuals from the Kano North Senatorial District.

He said the applicants are to select from three programmes: M.Tech. (Information Security & Cyber Forensic),

M.Tech. (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning) and M.Tech. (Robotics Sciences).

The foundation restricted the scholarship program to the three fields as part of efforts to contribute towards the country’s technological advancement.

” We are raising the bar and offering postgraduate scholarships in these three specialised fields to provide the needed skills to our youths. On graduation, the beneficiaries will become professionals and experts in these fields, thus contributing to the technological advancement of our country,” he said.

He said the programme is approximately 18 months, adding that the expected year of graduation is 2026.

According to him, the deadline for the submission of the application is July 30, 2024.

It would be recalled that the Deputy President of the Senate had, on December 1, last year, announced his intention to offer postgraduate scholarships to indigent students from Kano North Senatorial District with First Class.

He made the pledge when he hosted the leadership of the Students Union Government (SUG) of the Bayero University Kano (BUK) at the National Assembly. He said the students would be sponsored to study courses in Artificial Intelligence, Forensics and Robotics Sciences, among others, at postgraduate levels.
