Fubara Drops 2nd Term Ambition, Withdraws from Rivers Governorship Race

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has shelved his second term ambition as he has announced his immediate withdrawal from the race.

 

Fubara is a statement he personally signed late Wednesday said he would support whoever emerges the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).


Fubara in statement revealed that the decision tonstep aside from the contest was a difficult decision.

He however expressed his appreciation and thanks to his supporters and the people of Rivers State for their cooperation, support and goodwill towards him and his administration.

According to the governor his decision was strictly guided by the interest of Rivers State.

Part of his statement reads:

 

“After deep reflection and extensive consultations with my family, friends, and associates, I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to withdraw from the APC governorship primaries.

 

“I do so with a full heart and with a firm commitment to support whoever emerges as the candidate of our great party.”
