NDC Clear Path for Obi/Kwankwaso, Zones Presidential Ticket to Southern Nigeria
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has zoned its presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria.
The NDC is currently holding its national convention at the Los Angelese Eventb Centre, Abuja.
The party’s decision followed the approval of a motion moved by Hon Afam Victor Ogene, a member of the House of Represntatives representing Ogbaru Constituency of Anambra State.
After the motion was seconded, delegates at the convention approved the motion in an overwhelming voice vote.
The convention also approved that the ticket would only be in Southern Nigeria for four years after which the presidential ticket shall automatically revert to Northern Nigeria.
The convention which has in attendance the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi alongside Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State and the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) among several other top opposition figures.
The National Leader of NDC, Senator Seriake Dickson is also on hand directing key activities at the convention.
The zoning of the ticket to Southern Nigeria has effectively paved the way for the speculated Obi/Kwankwaso ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
