NDP Has Come to Stay, Will Win Elections In Ebonyi- State Chairman, Ekuma Igbota
The Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDP) in Ebonyi State, Chief Samuel Akuma Igbota has said that the party will win strategic elections in the state in the 2027 general elections.
Chief Igbota who spoke to FACTSHEET in Abakaliki on Wednesday declared that though the NDP is a new party, the party was poised the shake things up noting that “ the NDP today is a credible, untainted and reliable platform where every qualified and well-meaning Nigerians can contest elections without any fear of crisis or high jack by anybody.”
Speaking on the popularity of the NDP, Chief Igbota revealed that, “even though we are one of the newly registered political parties, the NDP which is led by an experienced and patriotic Nigerians, Mrs. Ada Fredrick Okwori is party built on real desire to change things in Nigeria.
On the allegations that the All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government was working hard to disorganise opposition political parties, the Ebonyi NDP boss stated that, “it is unfortunate what is happening among some opposition political parties, but in the NDP we do not have crisis and I use this opportunity to call on serious politicians who may have been disenfranchised to join the NDP on time ahead of the coming elections.
The NDP was registered on in February 2026, following the judgement of Justice M. G. Umar of the Federal High Court Abuja on February 16, 2026 which compelled the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue certificate of registration to the party for haven fulfilled all the requirement for registering political parties.
Delivering judgement in the marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2796/2025, the court declared that the plaintiffs had met all legal requirements and were qualified to be registered as a political party.
The leadership of the party had in the suit sought declarations that the political association had complied with Sections 222–224 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), Sections 75 and 79 of the Electoral Act 2022, as well as INEC’s Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties 2022.
