An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, on Friday, discharged a 66-year-old man, Tirimisiyu Lamidi, charged with poisoning a cow
Lamidi was arraigned in 2025 for conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace and for cruelty to animals.
He pleaded not guilty.
The case was called for a hearing on Friday, but the complainant, Muhammed Isiaka, withdrew it.

The magistrate, Oluwaferanmi Raji, therefore discharged the defendant without acquittance.
The prosecution counsel, Elisha Tellang, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on November 30, 2025, at about 5:30 p.m., at Ido, Ibadan.
Mr Tellang said the defendant killed a cow belonging to Mr Isiaka by injecting a poisonous substance into a corn shaft and placing it on the cow’s route.
The officer alleged that the poisonous substance killed the cow worth N2 million.
“The complainant said the defendant begged him for forgiveness, and he decided to pardon him, considering the fact that they live in the same area,” he said
