FCT Police Boss Dismisses Imminent ‘Terrorist Attack’ on Abuja, Announces Arrest of Fake Video-maker

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Sanusi has dismissed a circulating social media video that gave impression that Nigeria’s capital, Abuja was under terrorist attack.

 

In a press conference he addressed at the FCT Police Command Headquarters on Friday in Abuja, CP Sanusi revealed that preliminary investigation has unraveled the brain behind the fake terrorist attack video.

 Addressing journalists, the police boss said, “Yesterday, the 9th of April 2026, my attention was drawn to a video circulating on social media, containing gunshot sounds and footage from an undisclosed location, falsely alleging a terrorist attack within the Federal Capital Territory. Following a thorough investigation and digital forensic analysis into the allegation and source of the video, I wish to inform you that the originator of this misleading content has been arrested.

According to the CP, “Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect, one Pam Joshua, a 24-year-old resident of Abuja, deliberately fabricated the video using gunshot sounds and video footage sourced from TikTok and falsely presented it as an ongoing terrorist attack in Abuja, with captions designed to incite panic and cause fear.

The police boss assured residents of the FCT that the capital is “safe” as the police was working round the clock to ensure the safety of the residents of the city.

 

The CP also “urge[d] content creators and consumers alike to desist from creating or sharing false information capable of causing fear and panic.

 

Sanusi called on residents of the FCT to remain vigilant and security-conscious,and promptly report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines displayed on your screen.
