We are Treating Our Victims ‘Well,’ Boko Haram Terrorists Say in Video Showing Over 400 Abducted Borno Women, Children

A faction of Boko Haram has released a video showing displaying over 400 women and children recently abducted from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

In a viral social media video footage seen by FACTSHEET, the terrorists are seen speaking in Hausa explaining that they have “been treating the women and children well with compassion.”

In early March, ISWAP insurgents and Jama’atu Ahlis-Sunna Lidda’Awati Wal-Jihad (JAS), a faction of Boko Haram in a coordinated attacks that lasted days abducted 100s of residents on Ngoshe and surrounding communities.

The insurgents overran the Nigerian Army’s FOB in Ngoshe, killed soldiers and civilians in the process. More than 300 people were abducted between March 3 and 4, 2026.

Several Nigerian soldiers and officers have been killed in the line of duty as they struggle to defend beleaguered civilians in Northeast Nigeria.  Local reports indicate that over 1000 Nigerians remain in captivity.

 

Reports also indicate that, some local youth groups, including the Borno South Youths Alliance (BOSYA), have been engaging in mediation efforts between the abductees and village leaders to try secure the release of the Ngoshe abduction victims.
