According to him,  “We will support and endorse whoever emerges as the flagbearer. How many are we (presidential aspirants), three or four? In the PDP, more than ten of us contested.

“The youths have taken over the party. Most of those seeking elective positions, from councillor to State Assembly, National Assembly and House of Representatives, are young people. We have always said our party belongs to youths and women. Our role is to create the opportunity and hand it over to them.”

The ADC has been faced with serious leadership tussle, a situation that led the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to de-recognise the Senator David Mark led National Working Committee (NWC) of the party over an Appeal Court judgement that ordered that the INEC wait for a ruling of a pending suit at a  Federal High Court.

Atiku, while acknowledging the  severity of the leadership crisis in the party , however, stated that people remained confident in the ADC noting that Nigerians have continued to join the party in all the states of the federation.

He said, “People from every state are registering as members, and because of that, I don’t believe the events of two or three days ago have discouraged anyone at all.”

He also said that the crisis rocking theb party was being engineered from outside the party, “Of course, we shouldn’t have to say it, but this is external interference. They are using someone because they see our party getting stronger every day, and they think it will be a challenge to them if we continue to grow.”

The former Vice President said  acknowledged that he has been a lucky man and therefore, was not desperate over ruling Nigeria. “Allah has done everything for me. I have brought my sons and grandchildren home. What will be their future and that of their children?” he said.
