The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday in Abuja elected a 21-member new National Working Committee (NWC).
The well 2026 elective national convention which took held at the Velodrome of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja was attended by 2,632 accredited delegates from the 36 states and the FCT.
The convention effectively returned the PDP to competitiveness ahead of the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
The former Caretaker National Working Committee (CNWC) Chairman, Abdulrahaman Mohammed was elected a substantive National Chairman, while Senator Samuel Anyanwu was returned as the National Secretary.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa announced that the party has adopted “consensus” method of election in line with the 2026 Electoral Act.
The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Kingsley Chinda moved a motion for the adoption of the unity list of candidates for the elective convention, the motion was subsequently seconded Adamu Usman Ahmed a member of the BoT from Bauchi State seconded the motion which was adopted by the convention.
The team of observers from the Independent National Electoral Committee (NEC), was led Mr. Ken Ubeagu SAN.
