President Bola Tinubu has said that governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC) are the leaders of the party in their respective states.
President Tinubu made the declaration on Saturday at Jalingo, Taraba State during the official reception of the state governor, Mr. Agbu Kefas who recently joined the party after his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Tinubu who was represented by Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima, categorically announced that Gov. Kefas has assumed the leadership of the APC in Taraba State by the virtue of his defection to the party.
He called on Governor Kefas to unite members of the state, especially members of the party.
In his remarks, the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yelwatda, commended Governor Kefas for being “courageous” by decamping to the ruling party.
The chairman noted that that Kefas did not make a mistake by leaving his former party to the APC.
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio who was also represented by his deputy, Senator Barau Jibrin congratulated the people of Taraba and the governor for joining the party that saying the defection would immensely benefit the state in terms of development and enhancement of infrastructure including the strengthening of security.
According to Akpabio, “The move is to bring jobs for the jobless and business for entrepreneurs. To serve the state and be committed to the people and show results and fulfillment through discipline and patriotism,.
