Court Reaffirms Nenadi Usman Led Exco as Authentic Leadership of LP, Orders INEC to Comply
Justice Peter Odo Lifu of the Federal High Court Abuja has reaffirmed the appointment of Senator Nenadi Usman led Caretaker Committee of the Labour Party (LP) and ordered the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately recognise Senator Usman as the authentic National Chairman of the party.
A prominent member of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh who accomapanied Senator Usman and her team to the court told FACTSHEET that “the court affirmed that Mr. Julius Abure’s tenure had since elapsed and therefore, Senator Nenadi Usman was lawfully appointed and should be immediately recognised by INEC.”
The court ruled that the earlier judgement of the Supreme Court which affirmed that the tenure of Julius Abure had since elapsed must be obeyed by all parties including INEC.
Dr. Ezeh who expressed confidence in the ongoing reforms in the Nigerian judicial system added that “Nigeria must be a country ruled by law, and we must obey our laws to be able to move forward.”
He reiterated that, “for me, this is a great victory for our democracy and I enjoin all members of our party and Nigerians to come together for us to chat a new cause of our country.”
