The Niger State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has confirmed that 50 out of the 303 students abducted from the St. Mary Catholic Private School, Papiri have escaped and reunited with their families.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Chairman of CAN, Niger State, Bulus Dauwa Yohanna.
Yohana who is also the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese said that the children who successfully escaped from the terrorists between Friday and Saturday have been “quietly reunited with their families.”
The circumstances surrounding their escape is still kept secret as the church authorities collaborates with the government and security agencies in efforts geared towards securing the safe return of the abducted students and their teachers.
