I’m Defecting to the APC in the Interest of My People- Taraba Gov, Agbu Kefas

Taraba State governor, Mr.  Agbu Kefas has revealed that he was  leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) because of the critical need for the “ service of his people.”

Governor Kefas who spoke at the launching of the Margi cultural attire in Jimeta, Aadamawa State on Saturday said that he was confidence that  his decisoon will bring more prosperity to the people of Taraba State.

 The event titled ‘Civic Reception: Unveiling of Margi National Attire. which was organised by the Margi tribe in Adamawa State attracted prominent sons and daughters of the Margi tribe and three governors including Kefas and the host governor, Umaru Fintiri.

Speaking further on his political alliances, Governor Kefas noted that some of his colleagues, especially Governir Fintiri were not happy that he was leaving the PDP, but expressed optimism that they will eventually come together in the interest of the people.

According to him, “This is an event where all Margi nations come together to look at where they are coming from, where they are, and where they will be going

This is not a political gathering. Governor (Ahmadu) Fintiri is a true Margi son. He is a unifying factor, and I have enjoyed our neighbourhood and brotherhood.

“The only reason why we have disagreements is because I decided to move to the All Progressives Congress. But I know that at the end of the day, he will reason with me that my decision is in the interest of my people. I wish you all the best.

Governor Kefas had planned to officially join the APC on Wednesday Novemeber 19, 2025, but had to shelve the ceremony in solidarity with the people of Kebbi State over the violent abduction of schoolgirls by terrorists in the state.

FACTSHEET reported that the APC through its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Felix Morka announced the cancellation of the defection ceremony.
