Justice Jame Omotosho has sentenced Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to life imprisonment on account of his conviction on terrorism charges.
The judge convicted him on counts 1, 4, and 6 which carry the maximum sentence of death.
Delivering the judgement, Justice Omotosho said that ” the court is moved to show mercy by the admonition of Matthew chapter 23 Vs 23. the judge ruled that he would not be sentencing Kanu to death because death penalty is ” now being frowned at all over the world.”
On count 5, Kanu sentenced to 20 years, while he was sentenced to five years on count seven.
All the sentences would run concurrently.
