Nigerian Lawmakers Open Inquiry Into UK Operation RENASO Targeted at Nigerian Billionaire, Benedict Peters, Others for Promoting Christian Values
The House of Representatives has indicated interest to investigate allegations against Nigerian Businessman, Mr. Benedict Peters over alledged links to Nigeria’s former Petroleum, Mrs. Deziani Allison Madueke.
The position of the House follows a petition of written to the House by an organisation, the Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in West Africa (FECCIWA) and signed by Rev. E. Ukwuebuka, its National Coordinator.
According to the petition addressed to the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen through the lawmaker representating Ideato Federal Constituency, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, the group noted, “we write on behalf of the Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in West Africa (FECCIWA), an ecumenical body committed to defending moral values, religious liberty, and justice across West Africa.
“We address you not only as the President of the United States—one who enjoys continuing moral influencebut as a global figure who has consistently spoken in defence of religious freedom and against persecution. We trust that you will receive our plea with the gravity it merits, and we anticipate your moral leadership in ensuring justice prevails over political vendetta..”
FECCIWA noted that, “in recent years, a dark campaign known as “Operation RENASO” (and related mancuverings) has emerged—allegedly to target figures in Nigeria who defied external ideological agenda.
Explaining further, FECCIWA reveals that “At the heart of this campaign lies the attempt to drag the name of Nigerian billionaire businessman, Mr. Benedict Peters, into spurious criminal charges tied to Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, under an openly LGBT interest influenced revenge agenda.”
The group, therefore, “demand that his name be immediately struck out from any criminal charges linked to Mrs. AlisonMaducke and that any further acts of judicial harassment cease forth with.
According to FECCIWA’s information (and the internal Operation RENASO summary), in response to that clash, Greening and her associates allegedly instigated the British NCA and CPS to weaponize open-source gossip, planted intelligence, and associations in order to attach Mr. Peters to charges he never committed, as retribution for his perccived support of Alison-Maducke’s resistance.
FECCIWA alerted the House that Mr. Peters have been variously cleared and acquited by competent courts in Nigeria, including a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Nigeria which “quashed corruption, bribery, and money laundering allegations against him (Nov 2022), and awarded N200 million in damages against the EFCC, Attomey Gencral of the Federation, NCA, CPS and others. That court held that the defendants had misrepresented facts, acting deceitfully to pass off Mr. Peters’ legitimately acquired property as belonging to Mrs. AlisonMadueke.”
It is expected that the House will assign the petition to appropriate committee of the House for deep legislative action.
