President Trump Was Right About Terrorism in Nigeria, FG Diplomatically Engaging the US- Sen Orji Kalu
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has thrown his weight behind the decision of US President, Donald Trump to invade Nigeria to route out terrorists in Nigeria.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday the Abia North lawmaker and former governor of Abia state noted that the US president cannot speak without solid background evidence.
According to Senator Kalu. “what [President] Donald Trump said is not a lie.”
“Donald Trump said the truth, Nigerians are being killed, whether they are Christians or Muslims. Are they not being killed? If they kill people in Plateau, they go to church in Plateau, those they will kill are Christians? If they go to Benue, the majority of people they will kill in Benue are Christians? If they go to Zamfara, majority of people, they kill in a mosque. There are Muslims. So these people are jihadists. These people just want to destroy Nigeria.
“So we should call a black black without any beating about the bush. They will be smoked out. Let me also tell you the American president cannot talk anyhow.

The lawmaker revealed that he has personally spoken to notable American leaders who assured him that the US is ready help Nigeria fight the terrorists.
He said, “In my own little way, I have spoken to two former presidents, one Republican and one Democrat, and they all agree that they will help. I’ve spoken to about members 60 letters in the US Congress. So they’ve all said, We will help you people. But let me tell you before President Trump says a word, mind you that the American intelligence community must have found out where these people are living. All these friends we are talking is rhetoric. And you can see Nigerian Air Force possibly the information that be given to them by the US authorities and say they are there. And you see Nigerian Air Force in the last three days bombing the homes of these people. And that is what it should be.
Speaking further, the lawmaker said that the bandits and terrorists’ only paln was to destroy Nigeria and therefore do not deserve any pity. “We should not pity anybody who is a terrorist. We should not. We should not. When I was governor, you remember I was governor, we formed Bakassi. And the Bakassi was not about boyfriend and girlfriend. The Bakassi was about criminals. So if they are there, we’ll smoke them away. And I can tell you from every body serving in this government, from President Tinubu to Vice President, everybody is committed to smoking these people away. But you people who are journalists and community people, should also help the the military and the people to tell us really who and who are the members of this that are doing this,”Senator Kalu said.
The former Abia governor further revealed that the Federal Government was already exploring diplomatic avenues to resolve any misconceptions about the crisis in Nigeria.
He revealed that the intelligence on which President Trump based his decition to declare Nigeria an country of particular interest did not originate from President Bola Tinubu’s administration. According to him, “We [Nigerian government] are working diplomatically to make sure that we put our house in order. It will be solved diplomatically, in fact, the report they are using to assess this situation was not when President Tinubu was president, it was another president’s tenure, and that is the truth. So I do not see any reason people Nigerians are clapping hard. Our political opponents are thinking they are going to punish government.”
