On Monday September 30, 2025 President Bola Tinubu paid a one-day State Visit to Imo State. While in the state, President Tinubu commissioned some iconic projects executed by the Senator Hope Uzodimma led administration in the state.
The president was accompanied on the trip by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin; the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hons Abbas Tajudeen and Benjamin Okezie Kalu and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) among other leaders of the ruling party.
Several Governors including Dr. Alex Otti and his Delta State counterpart were also at the event.
Among the projects commissioned are:
- The reconstructed (dual carriageway) 52km Owerri–Mbaise–Obowo–Umuahia Road which connects Imo to neighbouring of Abia, Rivers , Ebonyi and South South states.
- The Assumpta Flyover at Control Post, Owerri
- The Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Center (EIICC), Owerri
