The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, , on Monday, led a delegation of the House leadership and caucus leaders on condolence visits to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the APC National Vice Chairman (North-West), Hon. Garba Datti Muhammad.
While the mother of the APC National Chairman, Madam Lydia Yilwatda, passed away in Jos on August 17, the son of the National Vice Chairman, North-West, Abdullahi Garba Datti, passed away on Friday, August 22, in Kaduna after a brief illness. He was buried the same day in Kaduna.
Speaker Abbas conveyed the heartfelt sympathy of the House over the loss.

The delegation, including Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu; Leader of the House, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere; former Deputy Speaker and North Central Caucus Leader, Rt. Hon. Idris Ahmed Wase; former House Leader and Chairman, Northern Regional Caucus, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, prayed to Allah to have mercy on the souls of the departed and give their families the fortitude to bear the loss.
Also on the delegation were the Chairman, House Committee on Agricultural Production and Services, Hon. Bello Kaoje; the Chairman, House Committee on Navy, Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi; Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Prof. Jake Dan-Azumi; Deputy Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Dr. Dunkwu Chamberlain Nnamdi; Chief of Staff to the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Sam Hart; APC Liaison Officer in the Speaker’s Office, Hon. Garba Chede, among others.
Speaker Abbas reaffirmed the unity and support of the House during this difficult time for both families.
Earlier in the week, the Speaker led a delegation on a condolence visit to the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, over the passing of his father, Alhaji Ahmed Momohsani Ododo at the age of 83 on August 18.
Speaker Abbas, who had earlier issued a condolence message to commiserate with Governor Ododo, expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the governor during the visit.
