Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Solomon Arase is dead.
The former police boss who also served as Chairman, Police Service Commission(PSC) was reported to have died at the Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja where he was being treated for an undisclosed ailment.
IGP Arase was the 18th Inspector-General of Police. He assumed office April 2015 during the time of President Goodluck Jonathan.
He retired from service in 2016 and in January 2023, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed him the Chairman of Police Service Commission (PSC), he was, however, removed under controversial circumstance by President Bola Tinubu in June 2024.

Late Arase was a thoroughbred intelligence officer, his outstanding competence led to his appointment as the head of the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau department of the Nigeria Police Force.
He also served as commissioner of various commands of the force.
