In a related development, women from Akwa Ibom State, the home state of Senate President Akpabio, staged protests condemning Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations. They perceived the claims as an attempt to tarnish Akpabio’s reputation and undermine his authority. The protesters warned Akpoti-Uduaghan against making further allegations without substantiated evidence, reflecting regional support for the Senate President.

Human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has been vocal in this matter, urging Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to present more evidence to support her allegations against Senate President Akpabio. Adeyanju emphasized that providing additional evidence would strengthen her case and lend credibility to her claims.  Previously, Adeyanju condemned the Senate’s suspension of Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing it as an attack on democracy and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

He also stood on a point valid or not valid that the Senate should not involved in such a distraction owing to the log of issue “at the nation’s lap” like the tax reform bill, fuel price and electricity hike among others which has turned to another pitch for back and forth games.

In response to her suspension and the ensuing controversies, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan escalated the matter to international platforms. She presented her case at a United Nations forum during the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting in New York, seeking intervention from global democratic institutions. She described her suspension as unlawful and expressed concerns about potential repercussions for speaking out.  The IPU has assured that it will take appropriate action after considering both sides of the issue surrounding her suspension.

The claim which was later debunked by Hon. Kafilat Ogbara who acerted that her suspension was due to misconduct of the Senate standing rules.

Nigerians still sits back and relaxes as the situation unfolds from various angles but the fact remains Senator Natasha isn’t looking like retreating from this battle and the senator Akpabio may have since moved on as the senate now forced on it duties.
