Senate President Godswill Akpabio has commended Senator Kafilat Ogbara for clarifying that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended for breaking Senate rules during the recent Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) summit in New York.

Akpabio’s remarks came as he expressed gratitude to his colleagues for passing a vote of confidence on him following Akpoti-Uduaghan’s sexual harassment allegations. The confidence vote was passed last week during a plenary session after comments by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.
The Senate President, who was absent during the first part of Thursday’s session, later returned to thank his colleagues for their support while his deputy, Jibrin Barau, presided. He also condemned Akpoti-Uduaghan’s statements at the IPU summit, accusing her of attempting to mislead the international media and tarnish the National Assembly’s reputation
