IBB Inspired Me to Join Politics- President Tinubu

 

President Bola Tinubu has revealed that Nigeria’s former military leader, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida was part of his inspiration in public service.

President Tinubu made the assertion in Abuja on Thursday during the unveiling of the former military leader’s autobiography titled, “A Journey in Service.”

In his address at the event President Tinubu recalled his encounters during Babangida’s transition when they waited to be inaugurated as members of the National Assembly.

According to President Tinubu, “When I was summoned by Dele Cole to make a remark, I confronted you, that you had an opportunity to make history that day, and you failed to do it.” Continuing, President Tinubu said that Babangida did not take any offence, but told him that he was “a courageous man.” This according to the president bolstered his resolve to serve the country.

An elated Tinubu said,  “without you people like me would not be be in politics… You inspire some of us.”

The book presentation was witnessed by former Heads of State, including General Yakubu Gowon, President Olusegun Obasanjo, Gen. Abbdulsalami Abubakar, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and immediate past President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Ador. Former Vice Presidents, Atiku Abubakar, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and many other top serving and former government functionaries were also at the event.
