Ibadan Court Remands Ex Onni’s Wife, Two Others in Prison Over Stampede

A Chief Magistrate Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, has ordered the remand of Ms. Naomi Silekunola, alongside three other actors in the stampede that claimed the lives of 35 children in Ibadan last week.

Those remanded in prison include the principal of Bashorun Islamic High School, Mr. Abdulahi  Fasasi,  and the Chairman of Agidigbo FM, Oriyomi Hamzat.

Naomi Silekunola is the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The three defendants have been slammed with four-count charges related to the incident, as outlined by the police prosecutor, who posited that their actions violated  Section 324 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Court presided over by Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi,  heard the four count charge preferred against the trio and subsequently  ordered that they be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre pending for directives on their trial.
