Tinubu Honours Super Eagles with Abuja Land, MON National Awards
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) members of the Super Eagles of Nigeria that participated at the just concluded African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023) in Ivory Coast.
President Tinubu who is hosted the silver-winning Super Eagles has also approved a gist of landed properties for every member of the team in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Super Eagles were led by the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh alongside officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
All the members of the team were present at the presidential event.
Earlier, the President had praised the patriotic spirit of the team and commended the team for their commitment to the fatherland.
In a statement issued by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the president praised Nigerian youths who have continued to make the country proud in various platforms and sphere.
“Let this passing event not dispirit us, but bring us together to work harder. We are a great nation bound as one by the green-white-green banner of resilience, joy, hope, duty, and untiring love.
“To those cherished Nigerian youths expressing their gifts in communities, drawing lines in the sand as they play football in their humble rectangles of play, you can be our heroes tomorrow, do not relent in your pursuit. My administration is here to make dreams come true,” the statement urged.
Recall the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shetima had witnessed both the Semi-final and finals matches where he led the federal government team that cheered the Super Eagles as they made the country proud in Ivory Coast.
