40 fresh bodies have been recovered in some communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State as bandits overrun several towns and villages in the North Central State. The new discovery brings the total casualty recorded in the latest violent attacks on Plateau State to 60 in less than one week.
In a statement to the media on Friday, the Chairman of Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC) Vanguard, Farmasum Fuddang, confirmed that the dead bodies were recovered in Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai all in Bokkos LGA.

Earlier, 10 people were killed in Ruwi village, while another 10 were killed on April 2, 2025, in the same communities in what has been described as a well-coordinated attacks that have left Plateau State numb.
In his words, Mr. Fuddang told journalists that, “We released the statement about the killing of 10 people in Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai on Wednesday morning. Since then, we have recovered 40 more bodies. We even buried them around 7 PM on Thursday using torchlights. It was the community members who discovered the bodies of their loved ones.”
The attackers in the last one week have consistently attacked and razed communities in Plateau State with very little resistance from both the locals and the security agencies.
Though Nigerian military authorities on Thursday announced it has confronted the attackers, it failed to capture any of the bandits as they were said to “have managed to escape” the Nigerian military.
