Usman Ododo Sworn-in as 5th Executive Governor of Kogi State
Mr. Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who won the November 11, 2023 governorship election in Kogi State has been sworn in as the 5th Executive Governor of the State.
Ododo was sworn in at about 2.30pm at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja, the state capital, shortl after his deputy, Elder Joel Salifu Oyibo was sworn in.
Ododo’s swearing followed the expiration of the tenure of his former boss and predecessor, Mr. Yahaya Bello.
The oath of office was administered on the governor and his deputy by the state Chief Judge, Justice Joseph Majebi.
Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima witnessed the swearing in on behalf of the President Bola Tinubu.
Governor Ododo polled 446,237 votes, to defeat Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who was his closest rival, who polled 259,052, while Sen. Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled a paltry 46,362 votes to come third in the election
