The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio has relieved embattled Kogi Central lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from her position as the Chairman of Senate Committee on Diaspora and Non-government Organizations (NGO).
In her place, Senator Aniekan Bassey has been appointed to chair the committee.
The appointment of Sen. Bassey was announced on plenary on Thursday by the President of the Senate who presided.
Shortly before the Kogi lawmaker fell out with Senator Akpabio in April 2025, she was removed as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content and reassigned to the Diaspora and NGOs Committee.

The Senate has not given any reason for the chanagr in the committee leadership, it is however, a normal process that leadership in committees change from time to time at the pleasure of the Senate leadership.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had secured a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had a few days ago her six months suspension from her legislative duties.
Justice Binta Nyako had ordered Senator Natasha’s reinstatement, directing her to apologise to the Senate over her conduct.
It is expected that the Kogi Central lawmaker Resumes her seat as soon as the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgement is served on the Senate.
